NOTE: I drafted this post at the start of the year, but did not publish. I will publish today on 14/02/25 and track performance from the start of the year when i made my new picks. I have no idea without checking if i am up or down with 6 weeks having passed 🙂

So this year was rather disappointing with a result of -6.8%
I wanted Bitcoin exposure and was forced with the only london listed option of Argo Blockchain. This miner would not have been a pick i’d freely choose given it’s poor financials and managament, much preffering just about any of the US listed miners. This dragged me down from a performance of about 5% overall if i’d have chosed one of them.
2025 Picks
Unfortunately the site owner is no longer running the competition, but i will contiue to select my top 5 shares for the year ahead. I will also include foreign holdings if desired as i am not limited by the rules of the stockchallenge website any longer. They are:
- CoinShares Valkyrie Bitcoin Miners ETF ( WGMI ) (USA) – 26.33
- Sandstorm Gold (USA) – $5.64
- Synectics (UK) 353.60
- Rightmove (UK) – 638.60
- IPF – International Personal Finance – 131.50
The first is a Bitcoin miners ETF. In practice i would like to sell this before the end of the year, but that is not allowed by standard and easy to administer rules that i follow. In truth i could happily have picked 5 Bitcoin miners, although i’d feel like i was cheating and/or being *too* speculative.
